Privacy Policy
Habit Shield ("Habit Shield", "we", "us", or "our") is a habit and focus application designed to help you stay focused by allowing you to schedule habits and temporarily block selected distracting applications.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Habit Shield accesses, stores, and shares, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Handle
Habit Shield is designed to operate primarily on your device. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, or phone number.
Depending on how you use the app, Habit Shield handles the following information.
1.1 Habit and Routine Information
Habit Shield stores information that you enter or create in the app, including:
- Habit names
- Habit schedules
- Days on which a habit repeats
- Habit creation timestamps
- Habit completion dates
- Temporary pause information
- The applications you choose to block for a habit
This information is stored locally on your device in Habit Shield's local database.
Habit names are free-form text. Because habit names may appear in notifications, you should avoid including sensitive or confidential information in them.
2. Selected and Installed Applications
Habit Shield allows you to select applications that you want to block during your scheduled protection sessions.
To display applications that can be selected for blocking, Habit Shield accesses the launcher-visible applications available on your device.
Habit Shield stores the package identifiers of applications that you explicitly select for blocking.
The complete list of applications available on your device is not stored by Habit Shield.
The application information used for selecting blocked apps is not intentionally sent to Habit Shield's analytics service.
3. Accessibility Service
Habit Shield uses the Android Accessibility Service to provide its core app-blocking functionality.
When you enable the Accessibility Service, Habit Shield observes accessibility window events to determine the package identifier of the application currently in the foreground.
This allows Habit Shield to determine whether the application you have opened is one of the applications you selected to block during an active protection session.
What Habit Shield accesses
- The package identifier of the application currently in the foreground.
What Habit Shield does not access through Accessibility Service
Habit Shield's Accessibility Service is configured so that it does not retrieve window content.
Based on the application's implementation, Habit Shield does not use the Accessibility Service to read:
- Screen content
- Typed text
- Passwords
- Messages
- Emails
- Accessibility node trees
- UI element text
- Content descriptions
- Clipboard contents
- Key events
The foreground application's package identifier is processed in memory for the purpose of enforcing your selected blocking rules.
Accessibility information and third parties
Habit Shield does not intentionally send the foreground application's package identifier to its analytics or crash-reporting services.
The foreground package identifier is not stored in Habit Shield's database.
You can disable Habit Shield's Accessibility Service at any time through Android Settings. If the service is disabled, Habit Shield cannot reliably detect when a blocked application is opened and app blocking may not function.
4. App Blocking and Overlay
When a protection session is active and you open an application that you selected for blocking, Habit Shield may display a blocking overlay over that application.
The overlay is used solely to enforce your selected protection rules.
Habit Shield does not use the overlay to collect or transmit the content displayed underneath it.
5. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, Habit Shield may send notifications related to your habits and protection sessions.
For example, notifications may remind you that a habit is starting or that protection has been interrupted.
Because habit names can be included in notification text, notifications may be visible on your device's lock screen depending on your Android notification settings.
You control notification access through Android's system settings.
6. Analytics
Habit Shield uses Amplitude to understand how the application is used and to improve its functionality and reliability.
Habit Shield uses explicitly defined analytics events. Automatic Amplitude UI autocapture is disabled, and remote configuration cannot enable it.
Analytics events may include information such as:
- Locally generated habit identifiers
- Counts
- Durations
- Application state or event categories
- App version
- Android version
- Device information
- Session information
Habit Shield does not intentionally send habit names or the package identifiers of your selected blocked applications to Amplitude.
Amplitude may also receive technical information associated with analytics events, including an SDK-generated device identifier, session identifier, application version, operating system information, device manufacturer/model information, carrier, language, platform information, and the IP address associated with the request.
Amplitude processes analytics data on its servers. The current application configuration uses Amplitude's US server zone.
Habit Shield does not use automatic UI element or text capture through Amplitude.
7. Crash Reporting and Diagnostics
Habit Shield uses Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, to identify crashes and technical problems and improve application stability.
Crash reports may include:
- Crash stack traces
- Diagnostic information
- Application version
- Android version
- Device information
- Firebase Installation information
- Technical breadcrumbs
- Limited application-defined diagnostic keys
Habit Shield does not intentionally include the foreground application's package identifier in Crashlytics reports.
Crash reporting is used for technical diagnostics and does not require Habit Shield to know your name, email address, or phone number.
8. Device and Technical Information
Habit Shield and its third-party analytics and crash-reporting services may process technical information needed for analytics, diagnostics, and application operation.
Depending on the service, this may include:
- Device manufacturer
- Device model
- Android version
- Application version
- Language
- Carrier information
- Platform information
- SDK-generated identifiers
- Session identifiers
- Firebase Installation information
- IP address associated with network requests
Habit Shield does not request access to your device's precise location.
Habit Shield does not request the Android Advertising ID.
9. Information We Do Not Request
Habit Shield does not require an account and does not request access to:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Photos or videos
- Microphone/audio
- Camera
- Precise location
- SMS or messages
- Browsing history
- Financial or payment information
Habit Shield currently does not implement an in-app account or payment/billing system.
10. Where Your Habit Data Is Stored
Habit names, schedules, completion history, and selected blocked-app package identifiers are stored in Habit Shield's local database on your device.
Habit Shield does not operate a cloud database or account system for storing this habit information.
Habit Shield's local habit database and preferences are excluded from Android cloud backup.
Android device-to-device transfer may transfer Habit Shield's local application data directly between devices when supported by Android.
11. Third-Party Services
Habit Shield uses third-party services to provide analytics and crash diagnostics.
Amplitude
Used for product analytics and understanding application usage.
Google Firebase Crashlytics
Used for crash reporting and technical diagnostics.
These services may process information according to their respective privacy policies and terms.
Before publishing: Add links to the current official Amplitude and Google/Firebase privacy policies.
Habit Shield does not control how third-party service providers process information once it has been transmitted to them. Their processing is subject to their respective policies.
12. Data Sharing
Habit Shield does not sell your personal information.
Habit Shield does not intentionally share your habit names or selected blocked-app package identifiers with advertisers.
Habit Shield transmits limited technical and analytics information to the third-party services described in this Privacy Policy for analytics and crash reporting.
In particular:
- Amplitude receives explicitly defined analytics events and associated technical information.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives crash and diagnostic information.
- The foreground application's package identifier used by the Accessibility Service is not intentionally transmitted to these services.
13. Data Retention
Habit and routine information remains on your device until you delete the relevant habit or otherwise remove the application's local data.
Deleting a habit removes the associated habit information, including its associated blocked-app selections and completion history maintained by Habit Shield.
Analytics and crash-reporting information that has already been transmitted to Amplitude or Firebase may remain on those services according to their respective retention policies.
Uninstalling Habit Shield removes the application's local sandbox data from the device, but it does not automatically delete information that has already been transmitted to third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
14. Deleting Your Information
Habit Shield currently provides deletion of individual habits and their associated local data.
Habit Shield does not currently provide an in-app "Delete All Data" function or user account deletion function.
Because Habit Shield does not maintain a user account or cloud database for your habit data, there is no Habit Shield account to delete.
If you have a privacy request concerning information processed by Habit Shield or its service providers, you may contact us at:
When making a request, please provide enough information for us to understand and respond to your request. We may need to verify the request before taking action.
15. Children's Privacy
Habit Shield is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Habit Shield does not require an account or collect a child's name, email address, phone number, or other direct identity information.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to Habit Shield, please contact us at yousuf.productlab@gmail.com.
16. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Habit Shield.
Habit data is primarily stored locally on your device, and Habit Shield does not operate a cloud database for your habit information.
Network communication used by third-party analytics and crash-reporting services is handled through their respective SDKs and infrastructure.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
17. Your Choices
You can control several aspects of Habit Shield's access through Android settings, including:
- Accessibility Service access
- Notification permission
- Other system permissions requested by the application
You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time. When it is disabled, Habit Shield may be unable to enforce application blocking.
You can also remove individual habits and their associated local data from within Habit Shield.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Habit Shield, its services, or applicable requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.
We recommend reviewing this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
